Namida no Sokoban Special (涙の倉庫番スペシャル, Tears of the Warehouse Keeper Special) is a puzzle game developed by ASCII and released in 1986 for the Famicom Disk System in Japan.
Overview[]
Namida no Sokoban Special is the first Sokoban release for a home console, and as such it expands on the base game by offering 150 different puzzles. The player can choose between three gameplay modes:
- Game Mode is the main story mode, which adds in items which are found when moving boxes and can be stored and used at anytime; however, using items subtracts from the player's score. The available items are the Magnet, which attracts a box towards the player, the Rope which allows the player to pull boxes, the Bell which springs a box into life, following the player around, and the Oil, which creates a puddle that removes boxes that pass over it.
- Puzzle Mode is the traditional Sokoban gameplay mode, without the presence of items.
- Edit Mode allows the player to create custom Sokoban puzzles.
Story[]
Katasuke-kun is good at tidying up, and he's found the perfect part-time job for himself. That job is as a warehouse keeper. His job is to put the items in the warehouse away in their designated places. Katasuke sets out with great enthusiasm, but what awaits him there are a whopping 150 warehouses. At first he's able to tidy up without any problems, but as the warehouse numbers go up, sweat starts to trickle down Katasuke's forehead, and sometimes he even falls asleep because it's so difficult! When he slacks off, the warehouse man comes running over and scolds him, and in the end he gets fired. Good luck, Katasuke!
